I adored Amy and the Tightwad Gazette. I went into a 2-week blue funk when she announced she’d be retiring! I SO looked forward to the TG’s arrival every month. Like many other people, I felt like I’d gotten to know her and her family as real-life friends.
I’d started my own frugality campaign about six months before reading about Amy and the TG in Parade magazine. I was amazed at what she’d been able to accomplish. I then redid my finances and was able to save much more. Anytime I started “slipping”, or got discouraged, I knew that I’d soon be receiving my monthly shot-in-the-arm of humorous stories and real-life examples of thrift to help fuel my motivation.
